Gold jewellery bag stolen from Metro station scanner

An unidentified man fled with a bag containing gold jewellery worth Rs 55 lakh from a baggage scanner installed at the Chandni Chowk Metro station.

An unidentified man fled with a bag containing gold jewellery worth Rs 55 lakh from a baggage scanner installed at the Chandni Chowk Metro station on Tuesday evening. The jewellery belonged to a Haryana-based businessman who wanted to board the train. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said the man kept his bag on the conveyer belt of the scanner and had moved ahead when the bag was stolen.

Investigators have scanned the CCTV footage and are preparing a sketch of the accused and are looking for him. Police said the complainant,Ravinder Soni,who hails from Haryana’s Yamuna Nagar,would frequently purchase jewellery from Chandni Chowk.

“The incident took place on Tuesday around 6.30 pm. His bag was flicked from the baggage scanner at the Chandni Chowk Metro station,” a police officer said.
