Go online to convert leasehold to freehold

You can now apply online to convert your property from leasehold to freehold. A dedicated software for the purpose was launched by Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Friday.

You can now apply online to convert your property from leasehold to freehold. A dedicated software for the purpose was launched by Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath on Friday.

Delhi Development Authority officials said they received four online applications by evening.

Launching the facility,Nath said more services of the DDA will go online to reduce paperwork and hassles that people face. The software will help people apply online for conversion of their properties from leasehold to freehold and the applicant can track the status of his request and fulfil formalities through emails.

The entire process is likely to take 45 days,with timeframes set for each step. All documents will also be digitised to ensure proper maintenance of records.

The applicant needs to visit the DDA office only to receive the original documents when the execution is done. All freehold properties will be listed on the DDA website. “In the first phase,only DDA flats and group housing societies will be covered by the online system. This service is expected to benefit 22 lakh people,’’ Nath said.
