A young woman was molested,stabbed and robbed in a running Blueline bus in Northeast Delhi.
The incident took place around 7.30 pm on Saturday,when she was on her way home after work,police said. The girl had objected to eve-teasing.
The 21-year-old girl had boarded the bus,plying on route number 374 (Nehru Place to Nand Nagri) from Krishna Nagar in East Delhi. She was on her way home to Shahdara,the police said.
At the Jaffarabad bus stand,four men boarded the bus. The bus was relatively empty and the assailants sat near the victim, a senior police officer said. They started passing obscene remarks at her and then molested her. When she raised an alarm,one of the assailants produced a button-actuated knife and slashed her on the cheek thrice.
None of the other passengers came to her rescue. The assailants then took away her cellphone and purse,forced the driver to stop the bus and fled,the officer said.
One of the passengers called the PCR and the girl was taken to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital,where she was admitted and administered several stitches. Her left cheek has been severely disfigured,but her condition is stable,the police said.
A case has been registered at the Seelampur police station,but the culprits are yet to be traced. The officers said their sketches are being prepared with accounts from the victim,the bus driver and the conductor.
