On Friday evening,at filmmaker Karan Johars 40th birthday party,almost all those who matter in Bollywood had descended upon the venue Taj Lands End,Bandra. The dress code for the evening,which was orchestrated by Johars designer friend Manish Malhotra,was black and red.
After much speculation about what the birthday boy would be wearing at his bash with Malhotra and Varun Bahls names being tossed around it was finally a crisp Tom Ford suit that Johar chose to don. Among the early entrants was close friend Shah Rukh Khan,who walked in with wife Gauri in a rich red dress; he even played host at the do. The other Khan Aamir opted for a Chinese-collared suit while wife Kiran Rao looked resplendent in a light blue Gaurav Gupta sari.
The night belonged to the bevvy of glamorous women who turned up in the finest of evening gowns. Particularly eye-catching was Bipasha Basus backless outfit by Arpan Vohra. Another red carpet scorcher was Malaika Arora-Khan,whose colourful floor-length dress made her the cynosure of shutterbugs. Kajol,Priyanka Chopra,Preity Zinta,Kareena and Karisma Kapoor,too,looked their stunning selves. Clearly,Johar knows how to throw a party to remember.
