Four North corporation officials face graft charge

The Vigilance department of the North corporation charged four Education department officials with misappropriation of funds reserved for purchase of textbooks meant for students in 1,700 schools. The quantum of penalty for the four officials is yet to be decided. An Education department official said,“In 2009,the officials purchased hardbound books for Rs 25 lakh using a Delhi government fund to purchase textbooks for free distribution to students at Rs 450 per book.” In 2010,the officials purchased the same books in paperback at Rs 150 per book.
