Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Friday that an illiterate or less educated Prime Minister was dangerous for the country.
Reacting to the Gujarat High Court’s decision to set aside an order of the Central Information Commission that had directed the Gujarat University to “search for information” regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degrees, Kejriwal tweeted, “Doesn’t the country even have the right to know how educated their PM is? They were opposed to showing his degree in court. Why? Those who demand to see his degree will be fined? What is happening? An illiterate or less educated PM is very dangerous for the country.”
The court also imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on Kejriwal, who had requested information on Modi’s degrees under the RTI Act. The amount has to be deposited with Gujarat State Legal Services Authority within four weeks.

Kejriwal and AAP have, over the past few days, launched a continuous attack on Modi and BJP over his educational qualifications.
On Thursday, posters had come up across the city asking if the Prime Minister of the country should be educated.
Earlier, at a rally in Jantar Mantar against BJP, Kejriwal had said, “If we had an educated PM, he would have understood the importance of schools.”
In the Delhi Assembly earlier this week, Kejriwal referenced PM Modi’s educational qualifications several times while linking him to Gautam Adani and said, “What I am most concerned about is that the Prime Minister is less educated… people come and tell him various things and put him up to various things.”
According to senior AAP leaders, one of their prime areas of focus has been education and they have brought in those who studied at prestigious institutions from across the world to change Delhi’s schools.
“The CM is an IITian, who later became an IRS officer. We have other highly-educated people in the party and we believe that people with these qualifications and experiences provide better and viable solutions to problems. BJP, on the other hand, has a person at its helm whose educational qualifications are unknown. We will intensify this line of attack as people have the right to know who is leading them,” a senior party leader said.
Leaders in the Delhi BJP believe that it is better to let AAP take this line of attack as it exposes its “elitist” nature.
“The party strategy is also to allow these posters to become the foundation of an emotive attack on Kejriwal, portraying him as an elitist questioning a grassroots leader, that is the PM,” a BJP source said.
