Final-yr engineering student beaten up in Gurgaon

A final year student of the Anupama College of Engineering was allegedly beaten up by batchmates and juniors on March 5. The victim,identified as Nishant Garsa (22),is pursuing Electronics and Communication and was admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon.

His father Surender Garsa said,Nishant was beaten up by collegemates instigated by one Mukul Gupta,an MBA student at the college and a relative of the chairman,Devendra Gupta.

“Mukul has been pursuing his MBA for the last four years and also looks after administrative affairs of the college. He is the chairman’s relative. At times,I had personally paid him money in addition to the examination fee just to get Nishant’s admit card in time. When I tried reporting the matter to the police,they did not lodge a complaint till March 9.

According to medical reports,other than the external injuries,Nishant also has injuries in his genitals.

“Doctors have advised him six to eight week of complete rest. I do not know how he will be able to cope since he has exams round the corner,” said Garsa.

The Gurgaon police have lodged a case against six including Mukal Gupta,under Sections 147,148,323 and 506. According to Inder Singh Saini,DCP (South): “It was a fight among college students.” The police have not made any arrests,confirmed the official.
