Police said the duo murdered her following an argument over her speaking with boys in her locality.

Gurgaon police identified the body found in the rear of a private school bus parked in Sector-5 on Wednesday as that of 17-year-old Shivani,a resident of Sector 5,and arrested two men — her father and her cousin— for the murder.

Police identified those arrested as Sanjay (40),Shivani’s father, and Chiku (22) her cousin. Police said the duo murdered her following an argument over her speaking with boys in her locality.

During investigation, police said Sanjay and Chiku tried misleading police by naming an alleged boyfriend, but on questioning, they confessed to the crime.

“During investigation,we learned that an argument had taken place between the father and daughter on the night of August 17 over her alleged ‘friendship with many boys’. They had caught her talking on the phone with one of them. Around 4.30 in the morning of August 18,Shivani ran away from home and Sanjay and Chiku followed her. They caught up with her a little away from home and strangled her. They dumped her body in the compartment of the bus, which was parked in Sector-5,” Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal said.
