The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has introduced changes on 25 major routes on an experimental basis as part of the route rationalisation process.
These include routes to and from ISBTs,railway stations and Fatehpuri, among others. A total of 101 buses have been added to the 627 buses plying on these routes.
The changes were made after conducting a survey and collecting inputs from traffic police to determine the increase in traffic volume in these areas, transport officials said.
These changes were made a month ago. After increasing the number of buses, the frequency of buses improved and buses were available every five to eight minutes, the official said.
A total of 657 bus routes were surveyed by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd. The basic aim was to make feeder routes for Metro network. Of the 657 routes,it was suggested that there should be no changes in 254 routes, modification should be carried out along 169 routes and 234 routes should be merged with other routes.
We will roll out the route rationalisation recommendations after studying the feedback from DTC on whether the changes made on these 25 routes have been successful or not, the official said.
