Traffic police in Gurgaon collected Rs 31.2 crore in challans this year, nearly double of 2022
In 2023, the traffic police introduced online registration for no-entry zones keeping in mind public convenience.

From drones to monitor traffic movement to installation of high-definition cameras on various routes, various initiatives were rolled out by Gurgaon Traffic Police throughout the year to improve traffic flow and ensure road safety.
From January 1 to December 26, 2023, Gurgaon Police issued 14,48,054 traffic fines. These included 31,870 fines for wrong-side driving, 89,783 for wrong parking, 466 for underage driving, 69,920 for not wearing a helmet, and 20,500 for not wearing seat belts. Besides, 5,181 fines were issued for drunk driving, 2,729 for speeding, 5,400 for jumping red lights, 1,743 for using tinted windows, 1,309 for using mobile phones while driving, 1,007 for non-functional silencers or laser lights, and 27,630 fines for lane changing, amounting to a total penalty of Rs 31.2 crore.
In 2021, police collected ₹7.61 crore in revenue whereas, in 2022, they collected ₹15.73 crore. Police said this year, the revenue has gone back to pre-pandemic level for the first time.

Besides, police made use of drones to monitor traffic movement to penalise drivers who would switch lanes in violation of traffic rules. To tackle drunk driving, regular checks are conducted at 10 checkpoints.
Traffic jams on the route from Jharsa Chowk to Sector-32 and the Gold Souk intersection were managed by making them one-way.
To address issues on National Highways, Gurgaon police collaborated with NHAI to construct foot-over-bridges at six designated spots.
Furthermore, Gurgaon Police undertook infrastructure improvement, filling potholes, and removing obstructive signboards. Reflective tapes were affixed to stray animals and fast-moving objects to enhance visibility, ensuring safer roads.
To streamline movement of auto-rickshaws, 70 auto union leaders were roped in and as many as 25,000 auto-rickshaws were assigned unique numbers to improve tracking and safety. Additionally, black spots, known for frequent accidents, were identified and addressed by the police. In 2023, eight such black spots were fixed.
High-definition cameras were installed at various spots on the Mumbai Expressway for online traffic fines.
