Shehzan Khan (25),son of Rakhi,the help who was allegedly tortured to death by BSP MP Dhananjay Singh’s wife Jagriti Singh,told police that he did not know that his mother was being tortured.

“Shehzan last spoke to Rakhi three months ago,but she did not tell him anything about the assault. Both of Rakhi’s phones were with Jagriti and she did not let Rakhi speak to her family,” a police officer said.

Rakhi lived in Kolkata with Shehzan and his wife after her husband’s death.

A man named Dev Kumar had promised to find Rakhi a decent job with good money in Delhi,police said. Shehzan said his mother left for Delhi in September 2012.

Shehzan told police that money was credited to Rakhi’s Kolkata account for the first two months only. He said when he last spoke to Rakhi,he did not ask about the money as he assumed that she had opened a separate account in Delhi.

Meena Sardar,the other help who has alleged torture by the BSP MP’s wife, also hails from 24 Parganas,Kolkata. She too was brought to the capital by Dev Kumar,police said. Kumar reportedly took

Rs 1.2 lakh from Dhananjay Singh to place these women in his house,police said.

Police said the agency that the couple had claimed to have hired the helps from does not exist. Police traced the number the couple gave them to Dev Kumar. A team has been sent to Kolkata to nab him,police said.
