But they will start rolling in from April...”Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot inspected the 9-m long prototype of the much-awaited mohalla bus at Raj Ghat bus depot, drove the vehicle for a short period before taking the passenger seat to reach the Assembly to attend the budget session Tuesday. He said residents can expect to see some of these buses on roads by next month.
In last year’s budget, the Delhi government had proposed to bring 100 mohalla buses by December 2023 to provide first- and last-mile connectivity in densely populated areas.

Gahlot wrote on X, “… Electric buses, especially the 9m compact ones under our mohalla bus scheme, will be a game changer, especially for our women drivers.”
The buses, as against the standard 12-m vehicle, will have 23 seats of which six will be reserved for women. The government has set a target to introduce 2,180 such buses by 2025.
