Tillu-Gogi gang rivalry breaks out on Delhi streets; man shot dead
Police said a case of murder has been lodged and six teams of the Outer district have been formed to trace the accused persons.

Multiple shots rang out on the crowded streets of Outer Delhi’s Alipur market as four armed men on bikes allegedly gunned down a tempo driver and injured a co-passenger on Monday afternoon. Police suspect the victim was a member of the Jitender Gogi gang and the assailants were from the rival Tillu Tajpuriya gang.
DCP (Outer North) Ravi Kumar said they had received information around 2 pm about a firing incident near Mini Stadium in Nehru Enclave’s Dayal Market.
“It was reported that four people had fired at three men sitting inside a Tata Ace vehicle. The deceased was identified as Narender, a resident of Dhulia Colony; he was shot six to seven times and declared dead on arrival when taken to a hospital. His co-passenger, Tarun, was shot three times in the foot. The third person inside the vehicle, Amit, fled the spot after the firing.”
According to a senior officer, CCTV footage showed the accused on three bikes approaching a parking lot where the tempo was parked. Narender and his two friends were sitting inside, waiting for a delivery person to pick up a parcel.
Said a senior police officer, “The bikers opened fire at the tempo’s occupants… they first shot Narender at least five-six times in the chest, following which they shot Tarun in the foot… They tried to shoot at Amit but he escaped… the assailants then fled.”
The DCP said Narender, who belonged to the Gogi gang, had previously been involved in a robbery case in 2017 and an Arms Act case in 2019. The accused persons are suspected to be members of the rival Tillu gang. Police added that Narender was a goods transporter.
Police said a case of murder has been lodged and six teams of the Outer district have been formed to trace the accused persons.
The gang rivalry between the Gogi and Tajpuriya gangs dates back to 2010 and has claimed more than 20 lives, including those of the gang leaders. Gogi was gunned down inside the Rohini court in 2020; Tajpuriya was the alleged mastermind, planning his rival’s demise from inside jail. Two years later, in August 2023, Tajpuriya was stabbed to death, allegedly by members of the Gogi, inside Tihar jail.
Police officers had said Tillu and Gogi were once friends, but the two became rivals during a student union election at Delhi’s Swami Shraddhanand College
