For the fifth time since December 9, several schools, including The Indian School in South Delhi, Ambience Public School in Safdarjung Enclave, Dilshad Public School in Dilshad Garden and Crescent School in Northwest Delhi, received bomb threats via email on Tuesday.
Delhi Fire Service officials confirmed that they received calls from the police at 10.08 am for the email received by The Indian School and at 1 pm for the email sent to Dilshad Public School. Police received a call from Crescent Public School and Ambience Public School at 7.30 am, sources confirmed.
Police, fire services and bomb disposal teams conducted checks and found nothing suspicious.
“The entire school premises has been thoroughly scanned by the bomb squad. Everything is clear and is safe. We shall be functioning normally from tomorrow,” wrote the administration of Ambience Public School, informing parents of the hoax on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, The Indian School posted a circular on their website, informing parents of the bomb hoax. “Dear parents, this morning, a bomb threat mail was received in the school’s email box. Immediately, all safety protocols were carried out to satisfaction and all the children and staff were safely evacuated. The police are investigating the matter to quickly identify the perpetrator. The premises has been combed and nothing has been found. The building and compound are being sanitised as usual by our security personnel and cleaning staff,” the notice read.
On Monday around 20 schools received bomb threats emails. On Saturday, five schools in Delhi, two in Gurgaon and one college campus in Noida received similar emails. A day before that, around 30 schools across Delhi received emails containing bomb threats. On December 9, too, around 40 schools across the capital received similar emails.
In the last eight months, several key institutions in Delhi — schools, colleges, hospitals, and the airport — have received numerous bomb threats that eventually turned out to be hoaxes.
