Delhi News Live Updates: With heavy rains lashing Delhi on Tuesday and waterlogging being reported in several areas of the city, the Delhi traffic police have issued several advisories, urging commuters to plan their journeys carefully and follow alternate routes as suggested by authorities.

Due to waterlogging at GTK Bus Depot, commuters travelling from Singhu Border (NH44) to Model Town or Kingsway Camp are advised to take a left turn at Mukarba Chowk, continue on Outer Ring Road, take a right at Mukandpur Flyover onto Road No. 51, and then take a U-turn from Azadpur Chowk to proceed towards their destination.

For those travelling from Model Town or Kingsway Camp towards Mukarba Chowk and NH44, the advisory recommends taking a right turn from Azadpur Chowk, following Road No 51, joining the Outer Ring Road via Mukandpur Chowk, and then proceeding towards NH44 or Singhu Border.

Traffic has also been affected on Bhishma Pitamah Marg in the carriageway from Lodhi Road towards Kotla due to waterlogging at the roundabout near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Similarly, Ring Road is experiencing congestion in the carriageway from Sarai Kale Khan towards INA Market because of waterlogging near Seva Nagar Bus Depot at Barapulla.

Delhi News Live Updates: A 'red alert' was issued for Delhi on Tuesday as heavy rains lashed the city, leading to traffic snarls and waterlogging during the morning rush hour.

Areas such as ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina, Patel Nagar, Vijay Chowk, Jangpura, RK Puram, Lajpath Nagar, Talkatora road, Rafi Marg and Rohini received heavy showers. Waterlogging was reported from multiple locations, including Panchkuian Road, Moti Bagh, ITO, Mukharjee Nagar and Pul Prahladpur, affecting vehicular movement.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and surface winds with speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph. A 'red alert' has also been issued for the eastern parts of the National Capital Region, while a 'yellow alert' remains in place for the rest of the areas.

According to the regional Met Centre, the ongoing rain spell is expected to continue till August 3. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded eight mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday.

A yellow alert is on for the other areas where light to moderate rainfall is expected. Previously, an orange alert was valid in Delhi, up to 9.30 am Tuesday. As part of its weather-related warnings, the weather department also issued a list of expected impact and suggested actions. In addition to waterlogging and closure of underpasses, it flagged occasional reduction in visibility and traffic congestion, urging citizens to follow traffic advisories and to avoid travel unless necessary.
