L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena Monday reiterated his demand that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal produce proof to substantiate allegations that the former was conspiring to do away with the city’s power subsidy scheme.

He also warned the CM of legal action and accused the Delhi government of playing “petty political games” over the issue. Responding to the L-G, the AAP called his allegations false.

Citing examples, including statements issued to the press and tweets over the past few weeks, the L-G stated in a letter to the Chief Minister that Power Minister Atishi, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and Kejriwal himself had been making “blatantly false, misleading, accusatory, libellous and defamatory statements” in this regard.

“… You are requested to furnish any paper or communication that establishes that the L-G wants power subsidy to be stopped or is conspiring with officers or a political party to stop power subsidy, as is being openly alleged by your ministers and colleagues in the party,” Saxena stated, terming the allegation “false propaganda”.

He sought to argue that Kejriwal was well aware that he had “always been committed” to power subsidy to the poor and had made this “amply clear” in the public domain as well as in different files on different occasions.

Saxena added that as recently as April 14 when the file related to the Delhi Cabinet decision to extend the power subsidy scheme for the ongoing fiscal was sent to him for approval on April 11, it was cleared and sent back to the CM.

“It is expected that the information sought… will be furnished to me at the earliest, failing which it would be assumed that you and your colleagues are deliberately misleading the people of Delhi and playing petty political games, which deserve unequivocal condemnation and legal redressal,” Saxena stated, calling the power subsidy, as an issue, “an imaginary bogey to mislead the people for partisan gains”.
