The firm will monitor and support the execution of all DJB projects — from sewage treatment plants ( STPs) and tanker management systems to billing-related processes such as late payment surcharge.
Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said on Thursday that with the appointment of KPMG, all ongoing and future DJB projects will be tracked using data-driven evaluation, independent audits, and real-time reporting mechanisms. “This partnership is expected to streamline project implementation, ensure timely completion, and bring financial discipline to the water utility’s operations,” he added.
Singh further said that the PMU will closely work with DJB engineers, contractors, and administrative wings to strengthen oversight from tendering to completion of projects. “From monitoring the functioning and capacity of STPs to supervising tanker dispatch and delivery systems, KPMG’s mandate will cover both operational and financial parameters.”
“Our goal is simple — people should get reliable water supply and transparent billing, and projects should be completed without delay or corruption. KPMG’s role as PMU will ensure both performance and integrity,” Singh said.
According to officials, the PMU will also help the board introduce digital monitoring dashboards, conduct technical and financial audits, and assist in restructuring billing systems to minimise errors and delays.
