Delhi HC gets eight new judges,to be sworn in today

With the appointment of five practising lawyers from the Bar,the Delhi High Court will get eight new additional judges on Wednesday.

With the appointment of five practising lawyers from the Bar,the Delhi High Court will get eight new additional judges on Wednesday.

The remaining three judges,including the sitting Registrar General of the High Court,have been elevated from trial courts.

Chief Justice D Murugesan will administer the oath of office to the eight new judges on Wednesday.

Delhi Government Standing Counsel (Civil) Najmi Waziri and four others — V K Rao,Sanjeev Sachdeva,Jayant Nath and Vibhu Bakhru — are from the Delhi High Court Bar.

District Judge Sunita Gupta from Tis Hazari and District Judge Deepa Sharma from the Dwarka court have been elevated to the High Court.

High Court Registrar General V P Vaish have been elevated as judge in the High Court. With the appointment of these new judges,the strength will increase to 43 as against the sanctioned number of 48.
