DDA warns buyers away from bogus land pooling housing schemes

With the land pooling policy yet to be operational, a large number of housing schemes are reportedly being floated under the policy and has become a reason for concern for the Delhi Development Authority, sources said. The DDA issued a notice on Saturday warning people against investing in such schemes.

“The general public is hereby cautioned that the land pooling policy has not become operational as yet. Unless the policy is finally notified by the government, no developer/builder can make assumptions about availability of land, its location, cost, timeline of delivery, etc,’’ the notice stated.

“A larger number of societies, registered and unregistered, are floating attractive schemes for booking of plots or flats claiming that the land for the purpose is available with them as per land pooling policy of DDA. These people  are charging registration money,’’ a DDA official said.

Sources claimed that brochures promising development of flats under land pooling policy in P-II zone (North Delhi) had come to light recently.

“No clear demarcation of areas  has taken place as yet. In fact P-II zone is an eco-sensitive zone and such a policy is unlikely to be rolled out in this zone,’’ a source said.
