A day after the former president of Atlas Cycles, Salil Kapoor, died allegedly by suicide at his home on APJ Abdul Kalam Lane in Lutyens’ Delhi, a case of abetment to suicide has been lodged by police. Four people who had lent him money and were named in his suicide note have been summoned for questioning, said officials. Kapoor was found dead on Tuesday with a bullet injury to his head on the ground floor of his three-storey bungalow. In his one-page suicide note, an official said, Kapoor had said that he had taken money from four people, and was in financial distress to pay them back. “The note states that they (the named persons) harassed him over repaying the loan,” added the officer. On Wednesday, DCP (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla, said, "A case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 108 has been lodged in the matter.the appropriate legal procedure is being followed." A senior officer said, "We have contacted the people named in the suicide note by Kapoor and they will then be questioned. Questions about their relation to the deceased, exchange of money, among others will be asked.”. Police said that the call detail records (CDR) of the four people will be corroborated to ascertain the number of times they spoke to Kapoor before his death. The officer added, “Based on the requirement, we might also ask them to share their bank account details to check for any transactions.” Police had said that Kapoor, 60, allegedly used his licensed revolver to kill himself.
