The Directorate of Education (DoE) will soon conduct cybersecurity workshops for students from class VI to IX in Delhi government schools. The workshops will be held along with CRY, a non-profit organisation, working for children's betterment in over 19 states. The sessions would broadly cover cybersecurity topics such as cyberbullying, identity theft, cheating, online gaming. Undergraduate students from Delhi University who underwent training would conduct the sessions. The duration of a session would be one-hour long or as mutually agreed by the head teacher of the school without hampering the regular academic activities. The notice released by DoE Thursday said, “The schools working should not be disrupted. The safety and security of the students should be ensured. Financial aid will not be provided by the Directorate of Education to the concerned Organization or to any person. Moreover, no foreign funding should be involved in the project following the guidelines issued by Gol.” Notably, CRY had sent a letter to the DoE on August 11 seeking permission to collaborate with 40 government schools. The letter said, “The sessions have been piloted in some of the government schools and we have received positive feedback on the sessions. The training is appropriate for the students from class 6th - 9th class. Our volunteers are trained in conducting these sessions in school by Nyaaya and also have received training on child protection policy from CRY. The sessions will be conducted in Hindi but as per requirement, our team can deliver them in English also.”
