(Praveen Khanna)In the wake of the November 10 Delhi blast, Faridabad Police has stepped up verification drives across the jurisdictions of all its stations. Police personnel have been pressed into action to verify tenants, check fertiliser and seed shops, religious places, OYO hotels/lodges, and to monitor individuals buying and selling old vehicles, as well as residents from Jammu and Kashmir, officers said.
“Since Tuesday, around 140 religious places, 1,700 tenants, 40 fertiliser and seed shops, around 200 guest houses, hotels and OYO lodges, as well as 100-odd people involved in buying and selling old vehicles have been checked,” a police spokesperson said.
The District Magistrate on Thursday had issued orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in view of maintaining security arrangements, he added.
“At the same time, it has also been directed that tenants be verified, records of persons staying in hotels, guest houses, dharamshalas, OYO hotels, paying guest accommodations and hospitals be prepared. Further, instructions have also been given to install high-quality CCTV cameras in such premises, with a recording capacity of at least 30 days.”
According to the order, entries of those visiting cyber cafes must be made in registers, and high-quality CCTV cameras need to be installed in these premises as well.
Moreover, police have also asked car dealers to maintain records of vehicles coming to garages.
“They have to provide details of bought and sold vehicles on a daily basis to the nearest police station. A C-form must be filled for foreign citizens, their ID obtained, and a full record entered in the register. Entries of those making calls at STD/Public Call Office (PCO) booths have to be made in the register. Records of those buying and selling old mobile phones and SIM cards must be kept, and an affidavit obtained from those involved, containing full details,” the officer said.
