After five days of intense action,inside the stadiums,Commonwealth Games competition is all set to hit the roads in Delhi as long-distance runners,walkers and cyclists will take to the street from tomorrow.
The road events kick off with the 20 km race,scheduled to begin at 6:30 am tomorrow.
Men and women’s events would commence with a gap of 15 minutes and 55 athletes,including 23 women,would vie for top honours when they will run through Sansad Marg and Rajpath road.
Next day,the same road will have the cyclists in action for the road race. The women cyclists will have to cover a distance of 112 Km while men will have to sweat out a little more as for them the distance is 168 km.
The athletes will pedal through Parliament Street,Red Cross Road,Rajendra Prasad Marg,Janpath,Rajpath and Vijay Chowk besides Outer Circus of Connaught Place,Barakhamba Road,Minto Road and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.
The cycling action then shifts to Noida with time trail events beginning from Wednesday. The Noida Expressway will host the fast paced women’s 29-km Individual Time Trial and its 40-km version for men.
The government has made elaborate security and traffic arrangements for smooth conduct of the competition.
