Court bars Ugandan women from leaving country

The Ugandan High Commission had booked tickets for the three women on Thursday night but they were sent to a women’s home instead.

The three Ugandan women, who approached Law Minister Somnath Bharti alleging that they had been held hostage by a drug syndicate in Khirki Extension, were barred from leaving the country on Thursday on the directions of a city court. The Ugandan High Commission had booked tickets for the three women on Thursday night but they were sent to a women’s home instead. “The women were not permitted to leave the country as the court asked us to do so. They have been asked to be present in Delhi as a case has been registered on the basis of their complaint,” a police officer said. DCP (south) B S Jaiswal confirmed the women had been asked to stay back in Delhi.
