Delhi Police have warned members of India Against Corruption (IAC) of a major law and order problem possibly waiting to happen at Ramlila Maidan as presence of rowdies and troublemakers was found in the crowd. Police said they were examining the possibility of registering a case against certain IAC members who were seen giving inflammatory speeches on stage on Wednesday night.
Police said they were prepared to take action against Anna Hazare (whose fast entered the tenth day Thursday) the moment they get a medical report terming him unfit.
Officials have instructed IAC members to spread out their volunteers more in the crowd as instances of women being molested and drunk men creating nuisance at the grounds surfaced.
Also, authorities were keeping a close tab on Hazares health and said they would request him to be shifted to a hospital if his condition worsens.
We are prepared to take any action if his health fails. He will be immediately pulled off the stage and taken to hospital. Till the time doctors declare him unfit we wont take any action, said a senior police officer.
Police said they have deployed adequate force at the grounds and were recording all the speeches made by the leaders.
We have sounded a verbal warning to them that the situation is getting out of control at the Ramlila Maidan. There are lot of drunk men and troublemakers in the crowd, said Dharmendra Kumar, special commissioner of police (law and order).
