A day after a 66-year-old man died at the Dhaula Kuan police post after he was allegedly pushed by a constable, the policeman has been suspended. The Crime Branch is probing the case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Anil Arora was allegedly pushed by Constable Vikram Singh when he tried to intervene in an argument between his son,Mohit Arora, and the policeman, late on Tuesday night. Arora fell unconscious and was declared dead on arrival at the Safdarjung Hospital. Mohit said: I did not fight with the police official. Why will I pick up a fight with someone I do not know? The constable held me by my collar, and when I resisted he abused me repeatedly. I kept pleading that I had not abused him,and that my family members were waiting for me. But he did not pay heed. Mohit alleged that Constable Singh fled from the spot with other police officers after his father fell unconscious. All the police officers surrounding my father moved away. It was only when I requested that they rubbed my fathers feet, which had turned cold by then, Mohit said. The family members, who received the body after a little less than 48 hours, said they had donated Aroras eyes. Mohit said he was on way home from Dwarka when his car stopped near Dhaula Kuan police post. He stepped out to look for water for the over-heated radiator of the car. I asked the police constable where I could find water, but he didnt respond. He was talking over the phone. I asked passersby for water and they directed me to the police post. When I was walking, the constable came from behind and held me by my collar and took me to the police post, he said. Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta confirmed that Constable Singh has been suspended and an inquiry initiated into the incident. We will take stern action, said Gupta. Mohit in his statement to police alleged that he was abused by Constable Singh and a duty officer at the police post.
