In an alleged case of road rage,a 40-year-old Delhi police head constable was allegedly beaten up by a colleague from his department and his father in Outer Delhis Alipur area on Friday night. The victim has been admitted to a hospital with head injuries.
The incident took place around 9.30 pm near Singhu border over honking,police said.
Officers,however,have denied that the incident pertained to road rage and termed it as a matter of personal enmity. The victim,identified as Vinod Kumar,is currently posted with the Police Control Room (PCR) department of the Delhi Police in Alipur circle.
The accused constable,Ramesh Singh is also associated with the PCR department. Both are residents of a village located near Singhu border.
A police officer said Kumar was returning home on his motorcycle after work when the incident occurred. En route,Kumar reportedly had an argument with Singh.
The father-son duo was in their car when Kumar honked at them from behind. This aggravated the accused,following which an argument broke out and soon turned into a scuffle. Kumar was struck in the head with a blunt object by the accused, he said.
Kumar was rushed to the Raja Harish Chandra Hospital,and later shifted to the Lok Nayak Hospital,where he is recuperating.
A case has been registered at the Alipur police
station.
