The government will unveil an official logo for Delhi on November 1, which is observed as Delhi Day (Foundation Day), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday.

Maintaining that this will be the first-ever official logo of the city — designed to establish the Capital’s distinct identity as a new emblem — Gupta said the logo will reflect Delhi’s modern, transparent, and people-oriented governance, while also representing the harmony between the city’s culture and its development.

To select the logo, Gupta had constituted a special committee, the CMO said in a statement. On Saturday, the CM held a meeting with the committee members, ministers Pravesh Sahib Singh and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, and other senior officials.

The committee deliberated upon the shortlisted designs, which were selected to reflect Delhi’s unique identity, glorious history, culture, development, and the aspirations of its people, the CMO said.

“After extensive discussions, the final designs were chosen. According to the Chief Minister, Delhi’s official logo will be finalised in another upcoming meeting and will be formally released on 1 November, Delhi Day (Foundation Day). Once released, the logo will serve as the permanent emblem of India’s National Capital,” it added.

The statement quoted Gupta as saying that currently, while most other states have their own symbols representing their identity, Delhi has no official logo.

She added that her government began work on a logo immediately upon assuming office. A competition to design logos was organised on the mygov.in portal, which received over 1,800 entries from across the country.
