Closing ceremony performers get pre-show jitters

Meanwhile,the performers have to themselves the Army parade ground,where necessary arrangements have been made. “We tried our best to create a kind of mini JLN Stadium in the parade grounds and the participants have been rehearsing there for some time now. At my level,I am trying my best to make sure that the participants can get some time in the main stadium also,” said Shovana Narayan,Director General,Ceremonies.

The dancers are,however,slightly unsure as they will not be able to rehearse with their costumes on. “Only when one wears the costumes does one come to know about it’s problems like if it is fitting well and is it possible to dance in it. So we are a little skeptical,” said a performer. The participants also do not even know their role vis a vis the aerostat. The venue was handed over to Wizcraft on Tuesday.

“Almost 1,000 workers have been working round the clock to make sure that the field of play is ready for the closing ceremony. We are in the process of placing the aerostat back in its place and sorting out other issues. A full dress rehearsal is not possible at the venue. We will try to have more of an orientation rehearsal where the participants can know the basics,” said Viraf Sarkari,COO,Wizcraft.

A participant from the Shaimak Davar dance troupe said,“Opening ceremony participants were able to have quite a few rehearsals inside the stadium,while we will just look at the stadium and come back.”
