Lion bites off man’s hand at zoo
A lion at the Delhi Zoo bit off a part of a worker’s right hand around 3 pm on Monday. Victim Surjeet Kumar,who is cleaner,was working near the lion’s cage along with another helper when the lion bit off a chunk of his hand. Kumar was taken to the zoo hospital where he received first-aid,he was later sent to the RML Hospital,where he has reportedly received 10 stitches. “Kumar said the lion attacked him without any provocation,” said a source.

Cops shoot in air in ‘self defence’,youth hurt
A Delhi Police constable shot at a youth during a scuffle at a park in Haiderpur gaon of Shalimar Bagh,Northwest Delhi,around 7.45 pm on Monday. Another youth was also reportedly injured in the scuffle. The victims have been identified as Mukesh Yadav (20) and Devesh Rathore (21). They were sitting in the park with their friends when “the constable,along with a colleague,asked them what they were doing there,” a police officer said. “The group told the policemen to mind their business and an argument ensued. The youths overpowered the constables and tried to assault them.” The police said the constables,in their defence,fired two shots in the air,however,one of the shots hit Mukesh in the leg. “Yadav and Rathore have been taken to Saroj Hospital. The shots were fired in self-defence and further investigations are underway,” the officer added.

Ex-RAW officer’s parents apologise to court
Three days after a former RAW officer was sent to IHBAS hospital for removing her clothes during a hearing at the Delhi High Court,her parents sought leniency on Monday requesting the judge to allow her to come out of the hospital. Parents of Nisha Priya Bhatia (49) approached Justice Ajit Bharihoke after the day’s work at the court and apologised for her misdemeanour on Thursday. The judge,however,told them that the treatment was in the interest of the Bhatia and that the doctors will release her if she is found of sound mental health. Bhatia,who had attempted suicide in front of the PMO two years ago,had stumped the court by stripping inside a courtroom twice during the day,compelling the judge to order her to be taken for a mental check-up. ens
