Yamuna rising,govt issues alert to those in low-lying areas
With water level in Yamuna rising due to incessant rains and release of water into the river by Haryana,the Delhi Government on Wednesday night alerted residents of low-lying areas to shift to safer places. Delhi Revenue Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said Haryana has released 50,000 cusec of water which is expected to reach Delhi later in the night. He said the Flood Control department as well as the disaster management authority have been told to remain on alert and take necessary steps to meet with any eventualities.
New panel to monitor rights of CWG workers
With thousands of Commonwealth Games workers still waiting to be registered and avail benefits under the labour laws,the Delhi High Court on Wednesday decided to set up a three-member panel a third body apart from a workers welfare board and a monitoring committee to sensitise them on their rights and entitlements.
