A day before the Reliance Infra-led Delhi Airport Metro Private Limited (DAMEPL) hands over operations of the line to the DMRC on Monday, subtle changes hinted at a change of guard on the Airport Metro. On Friday,it was revealed that DAMEPL had served a termination notice to the DMRC,which the Delhi Metro had termed as a violation of the concessionaire agreement and ongoing arbitration proceedings. However, the DMRC had said that if the DAMEPL does not continue to operate the line,it would take over in public interest. On Sunday afternoon, when this reporter visited stations on the Airport line, workers were seen pasting DMRC stickers over signages with the Reliance logo. One of the workers at the Shivaji Stadium Metro station said: We have been told to paste these stickers over the Reliance signs. Over the next few days,I think we will have to remove the Reliance billboards at the entrance as well. DMRC officials said they would take over operations of the line at 12 am on July 1,and trains would run as usual from 5.15 am. An official said: DMRC is committed towards providing the best possible service to commuters. The management has decided to invite feedback from the commuters so that the services can be improved. Two feedback-cum-suggestion counters will be opened at the Shivaji Stadium and Dwarka Sector-21 stations from 7.30 am onwards on Monday. Commuters will also be able to post their suggestions on Delhi Metros website. On Sunday,Airport Metro employees expressed apprehension about their future, but said that they had been asked to turn up on Monday. I am apprehensive of losing my job as a different company is taking over. From what I understand,my salary is more than my counterparts in the DMRC,so I dont know if I will get paid less. For now, however,I just want to keep my job, a cleaner said.
