In-principle nod to Bamnauli power project
The Delhi Cabinet,on Monday,gave in-principle approval for setting up a 750-MW gas-based power project at Bamnauli. This will be the Phase-II of the Pragati Power Project,and its contract has been awarded to the Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd. Negotiations between the Delhi government and BHEL are on to finalise the rate for constructing and operating the plant. According to a statement issued by the Delhi government,the negotiations will help in incorporating suitable clauses in contract to avoid future delays and road blocks. The Cabinet has also appointed NTPC as the Project Management Consultant on terms and conditions similar to those laid our for the Phase-III power project at Bawana. The Bamnauli Project,when commissioned,will supply uninterrupted power to IGI Airport,Dwarka and other colonies in the vicinity.
Getting pension to be made easier
The process of receiving pension will soon be simplified,this was announced at the Cabinet on Monday. The decision was taken after several reports of delays and harassment of the applicants came in. Applicants have to wait endlessly till the Aganwadi workers carry out the verification process. The government has now decided that the applicants will start getting pension within a month of filing the application even if the verification process has not been completed. The verification process will continue in due course.
Tourism dept nodal body for bar licences
Tourism department has been made the nodal body for giving bar licences to new restaurants. The department will help the new entrepreneurs with all the required clearances under single roof. At present all restaurants intending to operate in Delhi need Health Trade Licence from MCD/NDMC/Delhi Cantonment Board,Eating House Registration from the Police department and NOC from the Fire department. In case of standalone restaurants,in addition to all above-stated approvals,approval from Tourism department is also required before seeking licence from the Excise department. With the Tourism department as a nodal department,the applicants will have the facility of applying to all concerned departments simultaneously and separately.
