The BSP on Friday changed its nominee for the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Party sources said the previous candidate-Asif Khan,a neurologist at a private hospital here-was not up to the mark and not keen in meeting party workers in the area.
The party has now nominated Haji Yunus from East Delhi. We had certain expectations from Khan, which he did not meet. After getting the ticket,he was to meet party workers and voters in the constituency. He did not do so and we decided to field Yunus, BSP Delhi chief Brahm Singh Bidhuri said. The decision to replace Khan came after the party evaluated the performance of the candidates,Bidhuri said, adding that there was no change in candidates in other constituencies.
The other candidates fielded by the BSP are Haji Mustaqeem (Chandni Chowk),Haji Dilshad (Northeast Delhi),Trilok Chand Sharma (New Delhi),Rakesh Hansh (Northwest Delhi),Kanwar Singh Tanwar (South Delhi) and Deepak Bhardwaj (West Delhi).
