Light drizzle in parts of the Capital for the second consecutive day brought the mercury down to 33 degrees Celsius in the evening. Some parts of the Capital,particularly Central Delhi,witnessed light showers making the weather pleasant. The Met department has predicted a pleasant weekend.

On Friday the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.7 degrees Celsius (three degrees above normal) while the minimum was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius,five notches above normal and three notches higher than Thursday.

Over the last 24 hours .Two mm rainfall has been recorded.

8 hurt in building collapse
Eight persons were injured in separate incidents of building collapse on Friday. In the first incident,seven people were injured in Neb Sarai,South Delhi,after a building collapsed around 9 pm. One person was injured in another case after a building collapsed in Jamia Nagar. Police said the incidents were result of the sudden downpour.

Man examined in Abu Salem case
A Delhi-based businessman,who had alleged that gangster Abu Salem had demanded Rs 5 crore as protection money from him,was cross-examined in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja’s on Friday. Rajat Nagrath,the complainant,rejected the defence claim that his complaint was false and motivated. He,however,said it was true that he had never identified the caller to be Salem.

Fire at Khan Market
A fire broke out at the seventh floor of Lok Nayak Bhavan in Khan Market on Friday. The building houses several government offices.
