Body of man found at Jantar Mantar, cops suspect he shot himself

A man in his early 30s was found dead with a gunshot injury at Jantar Mantar, which is a designated protest site and located just a kilometre away from the Parliament, on Monday morning, an official said.

“An injured man was discovered by our patrolling staff at the site. It is suspected that he shot himself but a probe is underway,” a police officer said.

He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead, the officer said further.

The officer further said it has been found that the man was holding a protest at Jantar Mantar for a past few days. The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Jantar Mantar is a designated site for the protest during the day.
