Eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning to organise a two-day devotional trip for its party workers, their families and people from different constituencies to Ayodhya for a darshan of the Ram Temple.

Special trains will be booked for the purpose and the devotees will be charged a nominal amount, said party members.

According to a senior party member, the trips will be organised constituent- and district-wise, and schedules will be made accordingly. “The planning and arrangements for the trip are underway. The primary plan is to take party workers but it is not limited to them only. A worker can take his family and also people from their neighbourhood who want to do darshan in Ayodhya and have a glimpse of Ram Lalla…The trips will begin after Republic Day,” said a party member.

The train to Ayodhya will start from January 29 from North West Delhi’s Keshavpuram with a capacity to accommodate a total of 1,332 passengers. As many as 108 seats will be reserved for the people who will make arrangements such as stay, food and water for the entire trip.

“These 108 people will act like caretakers. One person will look after a group of 11 people…The second train will go from Chandni Chowk on January 30. The trip will be made every alternate day and party workers and people from each constituency can make their plans,” said a party member.

The BJP will charge Rs 780 from each person for the trip. “It is a very minimal amount for the two-day trip which will include fare for both sides, the stay in Ayodhya, temple tour, darshan, and six meals. The amount has been kept minimal so that every party worker and other people can afford it,” said another party member.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was held on Monday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiling the idol of Ram Lalla.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which already has a special “Teerth yatra” (pilgrimage) scheme for the elderly, said they have not put out any request for train bookings to Ayodhya as of now.
