The Congress and BJP on Monday ridiculed AAP government’s decision to hold a two-day Assembly session to discuss the Home Ministry’s notification.

The Congress and BJP on Monday ridiculed AAP government’s decision to hold a two-day Assembly session to discuss the Home Ministry’s notification. While the Congress termed it as mere “tamasha”, BJP MLAs said that the chief minister should concentrate on taking up public issues instead of “creating a cobweb of bureaucratic wrangling, demoralising and demotivating senior government officers.”

The BJP emphasised that if the AAP government does not take up the larger public interest issues in the session, “BJP will leave no stone unturned in taking up issues such as water supply, sewerage disposal, pension to senior citizens, slum development, improvement of resettlement colonies and urbanized villages, affordable housing, public transport, health, education. It will also take up the issues pertaining to Lokayukta, the IV Finance Commission and financial starvation of municipalities namely NDMC and EDMC”.

On May 21, the MHA issued a notification adding “services” under the LG’s purview and stating that he was the designated administrator of the NCT of Delhi. The notification also reiterated its earlier circular issued in July 2014 stating that the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government shall not take any cognizance of offences against officers, employees and functionaries of the Central government.

Meanwhile, Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken said, “This is nothing more than a tamasha. Tomorrow, the Congress will present a report created by its shadow committee on what has really been happening while the AAP has been claiming to be doing a lot of work. This will expose the lies that they are trying to project as truths.”
