Believing wife was hypnotised, man got tantrik killed, arrested with four others
“While Neeraj and Sunil were shot in the legs in retaliatory fire, the others were arrested in a combing operation,” said an officer, adding that they have recovered the murder weapon — a towel belonging to Prajapati.

With the arrest of five men late Thursday, the Bisrakh police said it has cracked the murder of Naresh Prajapati (40), a self-styled tantrik from Roza Jalalpur village.
The police identified the accused as Neeraj, Sunil, Saurabh Kumar, Praveen Sharma and Praveen Mavi.
The accused allegedly strangled Prajapati to death on August 2 and dumped his body on the banks of a canal in Bulandshahr. Police said the killing was planned by Praveen Sharma, a villager who believed Prajapati had “hypnotised” his wife, leading to their separation.
According to police, during a vehicle checking drive near Chipiyana Buzurg on Thursday, officers spotted a Swift Dzire car speeding towards them. When signalled to stop, the occupants allegedly tried to flee, leading to a chase. The car eventually hit a divider, after which its occupants allegedly fired at the police team.
“While Neeraj and Sunil were shot in the legs in retaliatory fire, the others were arrested in a combing operation,” said an officer, adding that they have recovered the murder weapon — a towel belonging to Prajapati.
Police said that in June, Neeraj had met a man named Khan alias Maharaj, who introduced him to Sunil. Sunil allegedly told Neeraj that his friend Praveen Sharma wanted to take revenge on Prajapati.
“Sharma had been promising plots of land and luxury cars to anyone who killed Prajapati. Neeraj roped in his friend Saurabh and Saurabh’s brother, and later, with Sunil, introduced them to Sharma,” said the officer.
On July 24, the group allegedly met in Noida. “They then approached Praveen Mavi of Bulandshahr, who allegedly showed them a secluded spot by a canal where the body could be dumped,” the officer said.
“On August 2, Neeraj, Saurabh and Saurabh’s brother allegedly lured Prajapati into their car on the pretext of performing a ritual. On a deserted stretch, they strangled him with his own towel and later dumped the body by the canal in Bulandshahr’s Narsena area,” the officer added.
Police said Saurabh’s brother, who is absconding, is being traced.
