With just two months left for his retirement, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi has decided to compile data of initiatives taken by him during his tenure and hand it over to the next police chief.
The data regarding digital and community-centric initiatives by Bassi has been published in the form of a coffee table book and sent to state police heads across the country. Bassi has held his current post since August 1, 2013 and is set to retire on February 28, 2016.
This is the first time that Delhi police has brought out a book to display the technologies adopted by the force.
The book titled ‘SMART way to a safer Delhi’ carries a message by Bassi on e-governance and community policing followed by two initial pages with the pictures and messages on “SMART policing” of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The book is edited by Joint Commissioner of Police (EOW) Satish Golcha.
“The idea is to collate lot of information in one document. It is a compilation of the digital and community-centric e-initiatives taken by the Delhi Police to improve its service delivery capacity and consequently, public satisfaction. It shall disseminate knowledge both within the organisation as well as among other stakeholders including the public,” said Bassi.
“This book is not for commercial purposes but it will be sent to public libraries, government institutions and offices of senior police officers. Some copies will be sent to the state heads,” said Bassi, adding an e-version will be available soon.
A Delhi Police App time line, a list of 10 apps launched in 2014 and 2015 is part of the book. Apart from the apps, a brief description of various policing schemes launched in previous years is mentioned along with photographs.
The book is likely to be displayed at the All India DGs and IGs Conference in Kutch, Gujarat starting December 18.
