The Delhi Police on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for rickshaw-puller Salim Ahmed.

New Delhi
:The Delhi Police on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for rickshaw-puller Salim Ahmed,who had tried to chase the two motorbike-borne gunmen who fired at the Taiwanese tourists outside Jama Masjid on Sunday. The Special Cell on Tuesday also recorded the statement of Ku Ze Wei,one of the Taiwanese nationals injured in the firing,after he was discharged from the hospital on Monday. Officials said since the medium of communication was a barrier,an interpreter was used. He was asked about the incident,the timing,number of bullets fired and other details. The police have also questioned shopkeepers in the Jama Masjid area for a description of the bikers.The bike has also not been recovered.

Two carjackers held,search on for third

:The Noida police on Tuesday busted a gang of carjackers by arresting two men — one of whom is a student. Identifying the accused as Nitin Kasana,a student of Shambhu Dayal Degree College in Ghaziabad,and Rajesh Bhadana,a resident of Badalpur village,police said they were nabbed on a tip-off. “The two were held after we set up roadblocks. A Hyundai Accent car has also been recovered from the duo,” a police officer said. A manhunt has been launched for another gang member,Kalu,an engineering student.

Prohibitory orders imposed around IGI

:As part of the Games security,the Delhi Police on Tuesday banned holding of meetings and demonstrations around the IGI Airport. The police has issued an order imposing Section 144 of the CrPC with immediate effect till October 25.

HC relief for 3,500 IP university students

New Delhi
:In a relief to 3,500 students,the Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University to promote them to second year. A Division Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan upheld the findings of a single judge who had allowed a petition filed by the students.

Babloo in Tihar:Court defers decision

New Delhi:A city court has deferred a decision on lodging gangster Babloo Srivastava in a jail here for speeding up the trial in a case under MCOCA. Additional Sessions Judge J R Aryan allowed the plea of Babloo,now lodged at Bareilly Central prison,that he be not kept at Tihar Jail as some of his cases in Kanpur were yet to conclude. The court then fixed a date October 20 for recording of evidence of witnesses.
