New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday sought a response from the Delhi government on a petition seeking directives for filling up teachers’ posts in a school. Justice Siddharth Mridul issued notices to Directorate of Education of Delhi government and Air Force Senior Secondary School at Delhi Cantt,and fixed the matter for hearing on January 20. The court was hearing the petition of Ashok Kumar and Ram Kumar whose daughters were studying in the school.

22-yr-old domestic help kills self in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at her employer’s home in Indirapuram on Sunday night. Kaamna Das (22),a resident of West Bengal,had come to Ghaziabad 20 days ago to work as a domestic help. Police said no suicide note was found and suspect she was depressed as her boyfriend had committed suicide a month earlier. Officers said Das,who held an engineering degree,also faced financial problems. “The house belongs to Rohtak Sharma,who had hired Das on December 10. Sharma and his wife found her body when they returned home after a visit to a friend’s house,” a police officer said.

Class XII girl ends life after tiff with parents

New Delhi: A student of Class XII allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her room in Khayala on Monday. Police were informed about the 18-year-old’s parents. Police said the girl had an altercation with her parents the previous night and was upset.

Two injured as cars collide in Mayur Vihar

New Delhi: Two businessmen were injured when their Volkswagen Polo car was hit by another vehicle in Mayur Vihar around 11 pm on Sunday. Mantosh and Sunil have been admitted in a hospital and their condition is said to be stable. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the unknown errant driver.

New Delhi: Sky gazers are in for a celestial treat as Jupiter and moon will converge in a beautiful conjunction,an event that can be seen after sunset on Tuesday. Conjunction,also known as appulse,is a phenomenon in which celestial bodies appear near one another as seen from the Earth. The bright pair of Jovian planet and the moon can be seen with naked eyes,Planetary Society of India general secretary N Sri Raghunandan Kumar said.

Cops,prisoners injured after van turns turtle

Ghaziabad: Four policemen and as many prisoners of Meerut jail were injured when a van ferrying them to Karkardooma court in Delhi turned turtle near Raj Nagar Extension here on Monday. All the injured have been hospitalised. SP City J K Shahi said no prisoner managed to escape.
