Four killed in separate road accidents
Four people,including a 10-year-old boy were killed in four separate accidents since Tuesday morning. In the first accident,Babulal (10) was killed when a speeding tractor rammed into a shanty in Sector 28 Dwarka around 10.30 am on Tuesday. Neeraj,a 20-year-old helper of a tempo,was killed when it rammed into a dumper near Sangam Vihar. In the third accident,two motor bikes rammed into each other near the Dwarka underpass in Kapashera area killing one Naresh (28) around 7.45 am. In the fourth accident,Sonu (26),a contractor,was hit by an unknown vehicle in Rajouri Garden.
Another dengue case,total rises to 8
A patient from East Delhis Shahdara North tested positive for dengue on Tuesday,taking the incidence of the disease this season to eight,including three outstation cases. MCD this year is procuring 14 vehicle-mounted fogging machines and 247 hand-held pulse jet type thermal fogging machines to prevent breeding of mosquitoes in the city.
Rakesh Kumar Tomar,the main accused in the manufacturing of fake aerated drinks in Meet Nagar in Northeast Delhi,was arrested on Tuesday,said the police. Tomar,the factory owner,was on the run after a raid was conducted at his factory about a week ago. Tomar supplied fake aerated drinks to various areas in the city,primarily north and Northeast Delhi and Ghaziabad.
Handover roads by July 31: CM to Metro
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday set July 31 as deadline for Delhi Metro to handover various roads currently under its control to PWD and other agencies so that beautification and relaying of roads could be started thereafter. Dikshit also asked the Metro to remove all construction wastes from their project sites by August 10.
DJ,DU student arrested with 2.5 kg of charas
Two persons were arrested on Tuesday allegedly with 2.5 kg of charas worth Rs 2.5 lakh,which was smuggled into the Capital from Pataudi,Haryana,said the police. Raj Kumar (24),a part-time disco-jockey,and Abhinav Bhargawa,a DU graduate,were apprehended from near Rohini Sector-11.
