Illegal rooms at three properties demolished
The MCD undertook demolition operations at three properties in Najafgarh Zone of the Raj Nagar II area on Friday,pulling down illegal rooms and toilet blocks. However,the BJP-led MCD alleged that the Opposition was unnecessarily politicising the house collapse issue at Laxmi Nagar. Stating that the area is a Congress stronghold,MCD Standing Committee chairman Yogender Chandolia said that civic officials in the area have to work under pressure from area representatives.
MCD demands more teeth from govt
Leaders of the BJP-led MCD,on Friday,stated that the Delhi government should empower the civic body with legitimate powers instead of encroaching upon its rights. MCD Leader of House Subhash Arya said,The Chief Minister has asked for information on funds spent for development of rural areas. But the Delhi government,itself,had constituted a Rural Development Board parallel to the Rural Areas Committee of the MCD and transferred all its funds to the board.
HC orders arrest of land fraudsters,aides
Cracking the whip on persons involved in fraudulently converting agricultural land into unauthorised colonies across Delhi,the High Court on Friday ordered investigators to arrest all such property dealers along with policemen and government officials accused of aiding them. Dismissing the anticipatory bail plea of one such dealer,Praveen Khatri,Justice S N Dhingra asked the police to apprehend everybody involved in the scam.
