Sajjan visited our home before riots: Victim
Jagdish Kaur (69),a woman who lost five family members during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots,told a Delhi court on Tuesday that she knew Congress leader Sajjan Kumar even before the riots happened,and he had visited their home a few days before her husband and son were killed. The cross-examination of Kaur entered the 15th day on Tuesday in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sunita Gupta where Kumar and other co-accused are being tried.
Cleartrip CEO,director arrested
Gurgaon: Stuart Crighton,the CEO of travel website cleartrip.com,and its director Amit Taneja were arrested under the Information Technology Act in a case of data theft filed last December. The case was filed against four persons,including the two,for theft of confidential and proprietary data and source codes. The two were immediately released as they had obtained anticipatory bail, said Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal. The case was filed by their previous employer Travelocity,which alleged the theft of classified data had led to a loss in their business,said Deswal.
An auto-rickshaw driver was electrocuted in Northwest Delhi when he came in contact with a live wire on Monday. The driver was identified as Ajay Gupta (32). He fell unconscious after coming in contact with a wire. A passerby informed the police. Locals rushed Gupta to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, a senior police officer said. A case of negligence has been registered against the private discom concerned.
Panel on Parliament heritage meets
A high-level committee,headed by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar,formed to protect the heritage of the Parliament building,held its first meeting on Tuesday. The 80-year-old building is in dire need of repairs in certain parts,and the committee has decided to closely monitor future renovation proposals. The panel includes P Chidambaram and L K Advani among others.
Official ends life in Ghaziabad court
Ghaziabad: A court official allegedly committed suicide by consuming sulphas tablets in the court premises on Tuesday morning. Raj Pal,a resident of Baghpat,was rushed to the Sarvodaya hospital where he died later. His colleague said Pal was disturbed for the last few days but didnt share it with anyone. A four-page suicide note has been seized by the court and investigations are on.
Trials over,Gurgaon Metro back on time
Metro services on the Qutab Minar-HUDA City Center corridor will resume from 6 am Wednesday as the DMRC has completed its trials with the rest of the corridor linking to Central Secretariat. Metro officials said all the necessary tests and trials for the integration of these two corridors have been completed.
Teenager who went out with friends found dead
A 18-year-old boy was found dead in Khada Colony in Jait Pur on Tuesday. Vicky had gone out on Monday night with three friends but did not return. Police suspect personal enmity behind the case and have lodged an FIR. A probe is on.
