Minor girl raped after promised marriage
A 17-year-old girl recently alleged she was raped by her businessman friend,who initially promised to marry her. According to the police,the incident was reported on Monday from Farsh Bazaar area in East Delhi. The victim complained that businessman Satin Lakhra,who runs a wire factory in Farsh Bazaar,promised to marry her and got into a physical relationship; however,he later decided to marry someone else. “The complainant told us that she was promised marriage,however,she got to know last week that Lakhra is marrying someone else after which she made a police complaint,” a senior police officer said. Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Anand Mohan said teams have been sent to arrest the accused who is absconding. A case of rape has been registered at the Farsh Bazaar police station.

Stay on construction at stadium
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday restrained the Municipal Corporation of Delhi from going ahead with the construction of an indoor basketball stadium at a park in Karol Bagh. A Bench led by Chief Justice A P Shah directed the civic body restore Ajmal Khan Park to its original state and ordered the setting up of a committee to supervise the task. The court was acting on a public interest petition filed by NGO Paryavaran Evam Jan Utthan challenging the construction on the ground that it was not environment-friendly.

IGI bomb scare: bail granted
A city court has granted bail to a 25-year-old Infosys software professional,who triggered a bomb scare at the IGI Airport to stall his Bangalore-bound GoAir flight as his train from Lucknow was running late. The court asked Abhishek Gupta to furnish a bail and a surety bond as pre-condition to his release. Following the call,the flight carrying 164 passengers was grounded and bomb disposal and dog squads were pressed into service.

Auto unions threaten stir
Auto unions across the city have threatened to go on strike if the fares are not increased by November 30. The unions claim their demand is a response to the increase in bus and Metro fares. They also contended that while CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg three months ago,there has been no response from the government in this regard despite agreeing to look into the matter.

Farmers’ protest today
Farmers from western UP belonging to various political groups will organise a protest march from Ramlila Maidan to Jantar Mantar against the new price regime and procurement of sugarcane announced by the government. The procession will affect traffic at Rajghat,JL Nehru Marg,Barakhamba Road,KG Marg,Janpath,Ranjit Singh Marg,Tolstoy Marg. Connaught Place,Mandi House and surrounding areas may also be congested. “Motorists are advised to avoid these areas. The diversion is likely to continue from 9 am till late afternoon,” Joint Commissioner of Police S N Srivastava said.
