Gurgaon: A resident of Gurgaon has sent a legal notice to an automobile giant,claiming that he nearly suffered an accident due to malfunctioning of a vehicle he had bought a few days ago. N Saharan has demanded that the company return the sum of Rs 19.35 lakh he had paid for the car,along with an interest of 6 per cent from the date of purchase. Besides that,he has sought a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for mental and physical trauma. Criminal and civil action will be taken against the company if it did not accede to his demands,the notice added.

Man held for theft attempt at bank

New Delhi: A man was arrested on Tuesday for trying to steal cleared cheques from the Punjab National Bank in Nangal Raya. Police said the youth,identified as Shiv Dutt (21),entered the premises of the bank on Monday and waited till everybody had gone. Dutt was caught on Tuesday morning,when police received information that somebody had entered the bank to commit a theft.

CM meets President,presents sapling

New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday presented President Pratibha Patil with a sapling and apprised her of the Delhi government’s mega plantation drive,under which 10 lakh trees are being planted across the Capital. Sources said Dikshit called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhawan and presented her a potted ‘Khirni’ plant.
