A key member of an interstate arms trafficking syndicate has been arrested from Tughlakabad Fort area and six firearms, including single-shot pistols and semi-automatic pistols , and three magazines were seized from him, police said Friday.
Tegwinder Singh aka Jagga, 25, from Amritsar’s Beas area, used to allegedly procure firearms from Madhya Pradesh and supply them to criminals in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR. He was in Delhi to supply the firearms to his city-based associate when he was nabbed by Delhi Police’s Special Cell on October 11 under the Arms Act, police said.
“He used to procure these firearms from one Mona aka Sardar of Sendhwa for Rs 8,000 per pistols and Rs 4,000 per single-shot pistols, and would sell them to the criminals in Delhi-NCR and other states at Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively,” said Manoj C, DCP, Special Cell.
The police acted on a tip-off and laid a trap near the Pul Prahladpur underpass on MB Road in the Tughlakabad Fort area to arrest Singh.
