The working week got a pleasant start on Monday, with temperatures remaining low throughout the day and rain and squall cooling the city even further in the evening. In fact, the maximum temperature dropped to 33 degrees Celsius, eight notches below normal and the lowest in 11 years, bringing much relief from the peak summer heat. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of the year.

The weatherman predicted a cool week ahead. According to the forecast,Tuesday too is expected to be cloudy with the possibility of rain and thunderstorm.

“The temperatures will remain low for most of this week. Light rains and thundershowers are expected at least for Tuesday and maybe for a few days after that too. However,it can’t be said right now whether the heat wave will come back or not,” said an official at the India Meteorological Department.

For Tuesday, the weatherman predicted the temperatures to hover between 35 and 26 degrees, making the evening cooler.

The IMD also recorded traces of rainfall across the city on Monday. The showers helped settle the dust haze which was covering the city for most of last week.
