Remakes are never easy. As director Apoorva Lakhia steered the remake of the 1973 classic film Zanjeer,he roped in Mumbai-based designer Pria Kataria Puri to style the characters essayed by Mahie Gill and Priyanka Chopra in the film. “The film opens with Priyanka,who plays an NRI coming back to India. We dressed her up in Armani and Victoria Beckham outfits in monochromatic tones,” says Puri. The change in her wardrobe is more evident when her character falls in love,adds the designer,who has used a lot of pastel colours in Priyanka’s outfits. Her real challenge,however,was to recreate the seductive glamour of the iconic character “Mona Darling” in a contemporary format. With Mahie Gill playing the sultry siren,Puri says she had a tough time trying to convince the actor to get into a swimsuit. “Mahie had never done a glamorous role before but she finally slipped into seven-inch stilettos and swimsuits for the film,” says Puri,who put together a line of lounge wear for her. “You will see her sport stylish swimsuits with chiffon sarongs,chic dresses with floral prints and cut-outs,” says Puri.
